When Russians were still using Banyas, Finns were resting in saunas, Turks were sweating out in Hammams and Japanese sat relaxing in Onsens, a group of people in another part of the same world were indulging in the treatment of their bodies through means of luxurious bathing. Their bathing system did not merely comprise of a heated chamber or warm water, it went on to constitute large pools with regulated water system and complex plumbing structures. These people were the Romans.

A Thermae in Rome, or bath house included a room for undressing and resting, a swimming pool for the first bath, hot or warm water chamber for washing themselves, a dry steam room and eventually a room for wet bath. This encompassed a wholesome bathing ritual. Sinks and pools were often made up of precious stones, marbles and even gold.

Ushmaya is an endeavour to resurrect this ancient luxurious bathing ritual.
