How Yoga Fights Insomnia

How Yoga Fights Insomnia

Insomnia is a disorder due to which you wake all late till night like an owl even when you want sleep like a rodent in its hibernation. What I mean is after a hectic day you want your body to take rest, your eyes are sleepy but your mind is active. You would be lying for hours with eyes closed believing that some way you will fall asleep but that doesn’t happen instead your brain has planned a lot of things by then. This makes you grumpy all through the next day and if this becomes a habit, it creates big changes in your behaviour. If you had the same story last night then you better put some light over this matter. Else...you know.

Practicing yoga makes you strong, flexible and improves concentration. But you need to update your knowledge as you would be unaware that yoga can give you a deep sleep that night. It does not make you tire like you feel after a workout. It makes you feel fresh and gives you deep sleep that you rise up fresh and feel healthy.

Probably you cannot give a dedicated time to yoga in a day. Try a few yoga asanas that you can do before going to sleep.

Viparita Karani : Stretch your legs straight against a wall while you are lying on the floor. This will ease out any tension in your legs. You can use a pillow to do the same.

UttanasanaRaise your hands above your head and inhale slowly, then bend forward completely back till your hands touch your feet and your forehead touches your knees.

If you are not that flexible to bend to this extent, bend your knees a little. Try and stay in this pose for a while, then, return back to the standing position but keep your hands up alongside your ears. Then as you release breathe bring your arms down from above of your face to your sides. All the movements are to be very calm and slow.

Siddhasana : Sit on the floor with legs crossed with your ankles parallel to each other. Breathe to the point where your only focus is how your heart beats and your body responds.

PaschimottanasanaSit down with your legs straight. Then raise your arms over your head along with taking a deep breath, bend forward slowly. Touch your toes with your hands and touch your head on your knee. Breathe out when you bend forward then hold your breath and then inhale on your going way up.

Shavasana: the literal meaning of it says to lie like a dead body. Lay down flat on your back, place your hands next to your body with palms touching the floor. Take deep breathes and relax.

Anybody who possesses a fair health can practice these asanas, but if you have any back aches or spondylosis then you better consult a yoga expert on www.themakeoverz.com before practicing these.
