You must have gone through a lot of yoga related stuff lately because of the yoga day celebrated on 21 June. Truly yoga is vital for the efficient working of our body, unless it wasn’t important it wouldn’t have been adopted by The United Nations so promptly. I hope you now get the importance of yoga that it stands in our life.

But there is another great form of yoga for those who like to gym. The Power Yoga. a few  people wish for a vigorous form of yoga rather than the slower versions of it.

Sun Power Yoga, Baptiste Power, Vinyasa Yoga, Boomer Yoga, Rocket Yoga are some of the popular power yoga practices in the West.

Became famous in the mid 90s, it was first invented by Beryl Bender Birch of New York and Bryan Kest of Los Angeles and popularized by K. Pattabhi Jois. It is different from the conventional yogic exercises invented by the ancient Guru Patanjali and the ones preached by Baba Ramdev. Power yoga is modeled on the Ashtang method.

The exercises differ because of no particular style that is followed.

Also called the American way of doing Ashtanga yoga, power yoga is popularly followed in the west. One of the famous power yoga poses for losing weight are Yogi Hurdler's Stretch and Bridge Pose. Beginners can start practicing these poses.

Actually, K. Pattabhi Jois is connected to ashtang yoga. Ashtang yoga is the real form of yoga taking the eight steps of yoga into account. The eight steps involve Yama, Niyama , Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana, Samadhi

Yama means following the moral codes. Niyama means purifying the self and education. Asana means taking postures. Pranayama is exercises involving breathe control. Pratyahara means controlling the senses. Dharana means concentrating on one. Dhyana means meditating. And the last Samadhi means complete absorption with the god.

Power yoga is fast, the movements are quick which gives you enough agility. In the west it might be clubbed with some music, making you follow a rhythm.

It makes you energetic, faster movements along with concentrating on the breath will make you tear down stress and pour in more energy.

Practicing the correct power yoga asanas regularly improves eye sight, reduces weight, controls blood pressure, disposes stress, increases strength, makes you agile, increases stamina.
