Regular makeup includes applying primer, concealer, foundation, eye makeup, blusher and finally lipsticks in the same sequence. Highlighting and contouring is however a separate step that has its own importance. Contouring basically is done to define your features such as nose, cheek bones and chin. It helps to bring the sculpture out of your face. Highlighting is a complimentary technique to contouring that helps in bringing out the best features of our face.

While contouring select color that is two shades darker of your original skin tone and use two shades brighter when highlighting any features. Also there are two types of products available in the market to do this technique- powder or cream. Both works equally good but powder is usually for the oily skin or for regular makeup whereas cream is used when you are going to be click from the close angled shot. Also you need to check the shape of your face and understand which part of your face you want to highlight. Most of the Indian girls feel like highlighting their eyes. Thus you can use two shades above color to accentuate your eyes. Never forget to blend your makeup with the bushy foundation or blending blush that will finalize your skin texture. Also during highlighting, apply blush above your cheek bone instead of the temples of your cheeks.
