SMOOTH IT OUT !

SMOOTH IT OUT !

Long, healthy and soft hair is every girl’s dream. But with the advancement of the 21st century’s women and the drastic change in their lifestyle has burnt this dream down. The factors attributing to the loss of gloss in a girl’s hair include pollution, physical or emotional stress, lack of proper care, ageing, genetic disorder, nutritional deficiency and over usage of artificial hair cosmetics.

It’s not possible for us avoid using a shampoo and conditioner and start using the age-old ‘shikakai’ in our daily on-the-run life. But a little care and a few home remedies can always help. Here are a few grab-by-hand tips that can help you re-gain the lost shine.

  • Lubrication is the key: For hair that is dry and rough, lubrication is what we need. Oil your hair with hot coconut oil and massage deep into the scalp and let it soak deep into your roots. Do not rub the scalp too much for it might aggravate flakes of dandruff. Apply oil at the hair tips which will help control split ends. Repeat this every time before you go in for a hair wash.

         Conditioning (before hair wash):

  • With Egg: Take an egg (or how many ever depending on the length of your hair) and break it to separate the albumin and yolk. It’s the albumin that comes off use to us. Mix a few teaspoons (proportionate to the amount of albumin) of olive oil to it and beat it up well. Apply this mixture along the length of the hair from top to bottom and knot up the hair for an hour. Rinse it with warm water later. This can be done once in two weeks or depending on how much the hair is subjected to damage.
  • With Yogurt: Brush your hair tangle-free and see to it that it’s oil-free too. Now take a cup of fresh, plain yogurt (make sure it’s absolutely fresh and sugar-free, else your hair will end up rougher than before) and apply it on the hair lengthwise from scalp to tips. Do not apply too much at the tips, for it might initiate split ends. Coat the entire hair with yogurt (until the hair looks silvery white) and tie up your hair in a bun. Leave it so for around 20-30 minutes or until the yogurt is fully dry and your hair is fully hard. Now have a hair wash with cold water and rinse away all the solidified yogurt particles carefully. This should not be done quite often, may be once in a month should do.

          Conditioning (after hair wash):

  • With Vinegar: Shampoo your hair and rinse with cold water to remove any shampoo particles left behind. Take two cups of vinegar and mix it water carefully (not to dilute the vinegar too much) to get to the required ratio. Apply the water-vinegar mixture to your hair lengthwise. Do not apply in excess on the scalp, as the acidity of the mixture might cause irritation. Leave it like that for another 10-15 minutes until your hair is fully soaked and wash it off with warm water. Rinse thoroughly until the vinegar smell is gone. This can be done once in a week and is very easy too.

It doesn’t take much to get a smooth and damage-free hair after all. Hope you found our easy-on-the-go tips for soft and shiny hair useful and feasible.
